As I begin to finalize the design of my sacred space, I am starting to consider the daylight factor of my building. To let in an ideal amount of light into the space, I aiming to hit a daylight factor of 3-4. I am finding that balancing daylight can be a tricky process, as it is difficult to not go above this limit.
The daylight factor is the ratio of the light level inside the building to the light level outside the structure. After reviewing my calculations, I have concluded that in order to hit my target daylight factor of 3-4, I will need to let in less light. To do so, I will take into account my aperture placement, materials used and size of windows used.
